Best (And Worst) of The Met Ball 2012

Favorites:

Top Row: Eva Mendes (Left) in Prada, Anna Wintour (Right) in Prada.
Bottom Row: Emma Stone (Left) in Lanvin, Diane Kruger (Right) in Prada.

This year the Metropolitan Museum  of Arts' Costume Institute Ball honored Prada as well as Elsa Schiaparelli. Eva Mendes' tangerine Prada gown with an embellished bodice was just perfect. It's fun and bright, but also lady-like and polished. And I really wish it was hanging in my closet right now. Anna Wintour looked as chic as ever, also wearing Prada. The gold lobster motif truly hit it out of the park, and made the dress playful not ridiculous. Emma Stone looked adorable in her custom Lanvin baby doll dress. And the styling was just right. Diane Kruger looked very goddess-esq in her Prada gown. The deep purple was great to see in a sea of orange and red. And the ostrich feathers put it on a whole new level. Again, great styling. These four ladies above have made fun choices with out being slaves to the super avant-garde.

Not So Much:

Sarah Jessica Parker (Left) in Valentino, Dakota Fanning (Right) in Louis Vuitton

Don't get me wrong, I like love a floral or pastel. However when not done right it can turn into a prom-bridesmaid-anything 80's disaster. Sarah Jessica Parker's Valentino dress is not terrible, it's just not right for her. It's definitely a case of the dress wearing her. I would  have preferred it on some one younger.  Dakota Fanning's Louis Vuitton dress was not her best look. The silhouette is atrocious, and the pattern screams awful prom. The color is pretty on her, though. What do you think?
